REGULAR MEETING OF THE

MELVIN VILLAGE BOARD

The meeting was called to order by President Harold Forbes with the Pledge to the Flag @7:00 PM. Village Clerk Lynn Duke gave a short prayer. Others present were: Trustees Vern Shapland, Dennis Manson, Wm Curtis, Jimmy Moore, Angel Benninger and Glen Netherton. Also present Village Maintenance Supervisor Larry Boundy, Village Water Supervisor Alan Thackeray, Community Hall Janitor Joe Cornell and guests Ed Miller and Arlen Kaufmann.

Clerk Duke read the minutes from the previous meeting. Hearing no additions or corrections Vern Shapland made the motion to accept the minutes as read, seconded by Jimmy Moore. Vote: 6-yes, 0-no. MC.

Guest Arlen Kaufmann was in attendance as was known from the previous meeting. He said that the last time he had asked for more money was in 2010. He asked for an additional $250.00 per month. Vern Shapland made the motion to raise the garbage contract by $250.00, seconded by Glen Netherton. Roll call vote: J. Moore-yes, A. Benninger-yes, V. Shapland-yes, G. Netherton-yes, W. Curtis-yes, and D. Manson-yes. MC. Clerk Duke will type up the new contract and have it ready to sign when Arlen is in town next week.

Guest Ed Miller was just sitting in.

Village Maintenance Reports: Larry Boundy/Alan Thackeray

Larry:

*Flushed hydrants in the last couple of weeks.

*Put in more new meters and will put in more when they arrive.

*Cleaned up in back room of Community Hall.

Alan:

*Switched to re-ox in the water.

*Put more water back in tower. It is better to have more in now that we don’t have to worry about winter freezing and more is better in the windy spring weather.

Wm. Curtis made the motion to accept the reports, seconded by Dennis Manson. Vote: 6-yes, 0-no. MC.

Treasurer’s Report:

A short note on what is going on and the monies available was reported. Bills in need of payment were presented. Jimmy Moore made the motion to pay the bills, seconded by Angel Benninger. Roll Call Vote: D. Manson-yes, W. Curtis-yes, G. Netherton-yes, V. Shapland-yes, A. Benninger-yes, and J. Moore-yes. MC.

Water Collector’s Report:

Nothing much changes for this report. Most people are up to date, there are always some exceptions.

New Business:

*We had one bid on removing the trailer on Thompson Street. The bid came from Young’s in Rantoul/Ludlow for $2000.00. Dennis Manson made the motion to accept the bid, seconded by Angel Benninger. Roll Call Vote: J. Moore-yes, A. Benninger-yes, V. Shapland-yes, G. Netherton-yes, W. Curtis-yes, and D. Manson-yes. MC.

* Larry was asked to clear the property so the trailer could be pulled out.

*Pet Tag time again. Clerk Duke will sell tags on Thursday March 23, 7-9 PM and Saturday March 25, 10-11 AM.

*Clean up day was discussed. More to come

* Motor Fuel Resolution to repair Village streets was presented. Vern Shapland made the motion to adopt the resolution, seconded by Wm. Curtis. Roll Call Vote. D. Manson-yes, W. Curtis-yes, G. Netherton-yes, V. Shapland-yes, A. Benninger-yes, J. Moore-yes. MC.

Hearing no other business, Vern Shapland made the motion to adjourn, seconded by Glen Netherton. Vote 6-yes, 0-no. MC.
