SEPTEMBER 14, 2016

REGULAR MEETING OF

THE MELVIN VILLAGE BOARD

The meeting was brought to order by Village President Harold Forbes @ 7:02 PM followed by a short prayer given by Village Clerk Lynn Duke. Others present were: Trustees Vern Shapland, Jimmy Moore, Angel Benninger, Wm. Curtis (came in late) and Glen Netherton, Village Maintenance Supervisor Larry Boundy and Village Water Supervisor Alan Thackeray. Also present were visitors Jim Cook, Dennis Manson and coming in late was Joe Cornell.

Angel Benninger was sworn in to replace Brian Grady.

*Minutes: Clerk Duke read the minutes from the last meeting. Hearing no additions or corrections, Vern Shapland made the motion to approve the minutes as read. Glen Netherton seconded the motion. Vote: 4-yes, 0-no. MC.

Guest/Visitors:

*Jim Cook said that Chris Dawson did come to help him as promised and was very thankful for his help.

*Dennis Manson was observing as was Joe Cornell.

Village Maintenance Reports: Larry Boundy/Alan Thackeray

*Cleaned pump house

*Pipes were wet

Dehumidifier??  Exhaust fan??

*Drain in pump house not working

Alan told to get a hold of Kafer’s

Check on cost of dehumidifier

Jimmy Moore made the motion to accept the Maintenance Report, seconded by Glen Netherton. Vote 4-yes, 0-no MC.

Treasurer’s Report/ Water Report:

No Reports

*The bills were presented for payment. Hearing only one question, which was answered, Vern Shapland made the motion to pay the bills, seconded by Jimmy Moore. Roll Call vote: A. Benninger-yes, J. Moore-yes, V. Shapland-yes, G. Netherton-yes. MC.

COMMITTEE REPORTS

Park

Animal Control/Village Improvement, Village Government & Insurance

No Reports

Streets, Alleys, Water, Drainage, Trees:

Streets not in condition to have been oiled and chipped!!

Nuisance & Public Health: Wm. Curtis/Vern Shapland

*Several addresses were brought up that need mowing done or trash cleaned up

There is a tree on curve on Hunt Street that needs to be trimmed.

Old Business:

There could not be 0% financing on truck or mower so they are being purchased outright.

New Business:

*Park signs need to be put up, ask Brian Hasenauer to do the work.

*Dennis Manson was asked to fill the seat of Chris Dawson who had to resign because of moving out of the Village. Wm Curtis made the motion to accept Dennis Manson as a Trustee to fill the vacant seat, seconded by Vern Shapland. Roll Call Vote: A. Benninger-yes, J. Moore-yes, V. Shapland-yes, G. Netherton-yes, W. Curtis-yes. MC.

*The clerk informed the Board that there would be an election for Village positions in April 2017. The two new members of the Board will have to run as well as Glen and Jimmy. Also the Village President and Clerk’s positions are up again.

Petitions may be picked up from the Clerk at her home most anytime (you might call first to see if she is home) or at the office between 9-11 AM Mon., Wed, or Thurs.

*Hearing no other business, Vern Shapland made the motion to adjourn, seconded by Wm. Curtis. Vote 6-yes, 0-no. MC.
