ORDINANCE  16-03

AN ORDINANCE SETTING A CURFEW FOR MINORS

UNDER THE AGE OF 18

BE IT SO ORDAINED, by the Village of Melvin, Il Village President and the Board of Trustees as follows:

 

Section I.

a. It shall be unlawful for a person less than 18 years of age be present at or upon any public assembly, building, place, street or highway at the following times unless accompanied and supervised by a parent, legal guardian or other responsible adult at least 18 years of age and approved by a parent or legal guardian.

b. The hours of enforcement are to be between 9:00 PM and 6:00AM Sunday through Saturday for those up to 16 years of age..

c. It is unlawful for a parent or legal guardian to knowingly permit a person in his custody or control to violate this Ordinance.

d. A person convicted of a violation of any provision of this section shall be guilty of a petty offense and shall be fined not less than $25.00 not more than $100.00.

e. Those 16 to 18 years of age may be out until Midnight on Fridays and Saturdays and those who are in GCMS High School authorized extra curricular activities or who work will be exempt on week nights from the 9:00 PM curfew so long as they have their parents or legal guardian’s consent. They must however go straight home after said function or work.

Section II.

a. All previous Ordinances on Curfews are herewith repealed.

 

Section III.

a. This Ordinance shall take effect and be in full force and effect immediately on and after its passage, approval and publication in pamphlet form as provided by law.
