FEBRUARY 10, 2015

REGULAR MEETING OF THE

MELVIN VILLAGE BOARD

The meeting was called to order at 7:00 PM by Village President Harold Forbes by the reciting of the Pledge to the Flag, followed with a short prayer given by Village Clerk Lynn Duke .Those present beside President Forbes and Clerk Duke were: Village Treasurer and Water Collector Judy Schall, Trustees Brian Grady, Jimmy Moore, Vern Shapland, and Glen Netherton. Also present were: Village Maintenance Supervisor Larry Boundy, Village Water Maintenance Alan Thackeray, and Press Rep. Jean Thackeray. Wm. Curtis was absent.

Minutes from the last meeting were read by Clerk Duke. Hearing on additions or corrections, Glen Netherton made a motion to accept the minutes as presented, seconded by Vern Shapland.

Village Maintenance Reports: Larry Boundy/Alan Thackeray

*Larry reported:

*Problem on Thompson Street is fixed… hopefully. There were more tree roots done away with. Catch basin found that wasn’t previously known about. A map was made of everything that was done with one being at the pump house and one at the Village hall and one on bulletin board.

*Need to purchase chemicals to eat tree roots. Larry said it costs $375 a barrel and he would like to get at least two (2) barrels. Glen Netherton made a motion to approve the buying of two barrels of the chemical, seconded by Jimmy Moore. Roll Call Vote: B. Grady-yes, J. Moore-yes, V. Shapland-yes, and G. Netherton-yes. MC.

Alan reported:

*He and Larry went to seminar on J.U.L.I.E. They learned that they do not have to locate all the way to the house.

*All else seems to be going along okay.

Treasurer’s Report: Judy Schall

Judy reported:

*She would like to renew a CD. Vern Shapland made a motion to renew it, seconded by Glen Netherton. Roll Call Vote: G. Netherton-yes, V. Shapland-yes, J. Moore-yes, and B. Grady-yes. MC.

*Judy then presented the treasurer’s report. After everyone looked it over, it was filed for audit.

*The bills that were in the need of payment were then presented. After looking them over, a couple of questions were asked and answered so Vern Shapland made the motion to pay the bills, seconded by Glen Netherton. Roll Call Vote: J. Moore-yes, B. Grady-yes, G. Netherton-yes, V. Shapland-yes. MC.

Water Collector’s Report: Judy Schall

Judy presented the Water Collector’s Report, after looking it over; Jimmy Moore made the motion to accept the report, seconded by Glen Netherton. Vote: 4-yes, 0-no. MC.

 

COMMITTEE REPORTS

There were no Committee Reports

OLD BUSINESS:

None

NEW BUSINESS:

*Discussion on hiring a new Water Meter Reader was held. President Forbes said the Clerk should put up Notices of application being taken. President Forbes will make up an application and they will be taken by him and Clerk Duke. A decision will be made at the next meeting.

*Clerk Duke said that she will be at the Village Hall on Thursday March 19th from 7:00-8:00 PM and on Saturday March 21 from 10:00-11:00AM for purchase/renewal of pet tags. She will put Notices up in the usual places.

 

Hearing no other business, Jimmy Moore made the motion to adjourn, seconded by Brian Grady. Vote: 4-yes, 0-no. MC.
